Running Plays and Forward Progress

Stiff.ArmThe topics discussed at the ANEFO meeting on September 15, 2014, focused on running plays and forward progress; the handouts are located at the end of this article.  Dan Foreman was the guest speaker.  He discussed “Forward Progress”, technique, spots, and various scenarios regarding muffs near and in the end zone.  Tommy Brow, ANEFO Rules Interpreter, discussed “Running Plays.”  His presentation included: ball carrier using a stiff arm, ball carrier twisting a facemask, ball carrier simulating knee to the ground, ball carrier touching a player or an official who on a sideline or out-of-bounds.  Five NCAA college football videos were also presented and discussed.
