There was a meeting of the ANEFO on September 9, 2019 to discuss questions 26-50 of the pre-season exam. Brian Doherty, ANEFO President, read aloud the last 25 questions and the answers of the pre-season exam; there was a robust discussion about some of the questions.
Next, Tom Brow, ANEFO Rules Interpreter, presented six game video clips from two Hawaiian high school football teams. The video clips included: intentional grounding, hurdling, defensive holding, a coach on the field, head linesman’s mechanics, and communicating with coaches. Tom also presented four “You Make the Federation Call” scenarios involving offensive fouls beyond and behind the line of scrimmage.
Finally, the members self-selected one of four breakout groups to discuss official’s mechanics and/or game situations specific to their positions on the field. The referee’s group was facilitated by Jack Walsh. The umpire’s group was facilitated by Chris Clemente. The back judge’s group was facilitated by Mike Sullivan. The line of scrimmage groups were facilitated by David McCarthy and Tony Jesi. A copy of the handout from the meeting is posted below:
