Major Fouls – October 5, 2015

horse collarRich Harrington, the featured guest speaker, and Tommy Brow, Rules Interpreter, presented at the ANEFO meeting on October 5, 2015.  Their handouts and/or resources are located at the bottom of this article.  First, Tommy Brow discussed the following: horse collar tackles, clipping, blocking below the waist, facemask fouls, flagrant personal fouls, unsportsmanlike fouls after a touchdown, as well as four interesting “You Make the Call” plays. Next, Rich Harrington discussed the philosophy and mechanics of major fouls, the blocking zone, clipping, blocking below the waist, horse collar tackles, kick catch interference, roughing low on the passer, leaping, and unsportsmanlike fouls.  Seven football video clips were presented covering topics such as: clipping, blocking below the waist, horse collar tackles, kick catch interference, and roughing the quarterback.
