Richard Cacciatore, President, presided at the third, in-person ANEFO meeting of the 2021 Football Season on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Irish-American Club. President Cacciatore greeted the members and discussed various updates about the upcoming football season. Rick announced that the deadline to submit the online Preseason ANEFO Exam has been extended until Monday, September 13, 2021.
Tom Brow, Rules Interpreter, was the guest speaker. He first demonstrated how to access the online exam on the ANEFO website. Next, Tom presented a visual presentation that included two interesting “You Make the Call!” plays. The first play involved a muffed punt that was deflected back behind the line of scrimmage and a subsequent incomplete pass. The second play involved a soccer-like kick by the quarterback the caromed down field beyond the line to gain and was subsequently recovered by the offensive team. Once you start the video presentation, there will appear a [-] symbol in the bottom right corner. It is important that you select the [-] symbol to see the video in full screen.
Next, the members watched the “2021 High School Training Tape – Mechanics and Unusual Plays,” narrated by Brian Sakowski, an Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Official (EAIFO) and a Pennsylvania High School football official. Brian was the line judge in the Army-Navy Game last December. (See link to Sakowski’s Presentation Below)
At the end of the meeting, there was an opportunity for ANEFO members to ask some excellent questions. During his closing remarks, President Cacciatore wished everyone good luck during the upcoming season.
